Moscato d’Asti, Asti Spumante
These Italian sparkling wines are semi-sweet, soft, and easy drinking.
Typically light to medium-bodied, dry, fresh, and grapey, these elegant examples are considered a refreshing aperitif.
Made by a variety of methods from simple late harvest to being fortified with brandy, these offer heady floral spice and honeysuckle aromatics and concentrated apricot and peach fruit flavors. Some examples, notably those from Australia, often have more raisin, toffee, nut, and caramel flavors.
