Navitas Organics Kosher Maqui Powder Organic Description:

The purple Chilean maqui berry is one of the most antioxidant-rich foods. It contains an abundance of vitamin C, calcium, iron and potassium, anti-aging anthocyanins and polyphenols, and anti-inflammatory compounds. Navitas Naturals Maqui Powder has a tart fruity flavor that’s a delicious addition to juices, smoothies and desserts.

Patagonian Superberry
Maqui berries are the fruit of an evergreen shrub (Aristotelia chilensis) growing throughout the pristine Patagonian mountain region of southern Chile. The berries have been both a staple food and part of rituals and ceremonies for the Mapuche Indians—one of the longest-living cultures in the world. The maqui berry was considered a sacred plant symbolizing goodwill by Mapuche communities.

The rich, dark purple berries contain more antioxidants than any discovered food on earth, making them an excellent addition to any diet. The Maqui berry has a wonderful, slightly tart flavor that has been described as having hints of blackberry, blueberry, watermelon and acai.

Anti-Aging Berry
Maqui berries have been found to have an incredibly high ORAC value (more than four times higher than blueberries and twice as much as acai berries), which measures the antioxidant capacity of foods. Maqui berries contain the antioxidant flavonoids called anthocyanins and polyphenols, and they also contain a healthy roster of fundamental nutrients including vitamins A, C and E, along with several important minerals such as calcium, iron and potassium.
